To mark the completion of a £1 million pound refurbishment programme at Camilla House Nursing Care Home in Auchtertool, owners Kingdom Homes Ltd, Fife's longest established care providers, held an Open Day. (29/5/2008)

Exactly a year ago the opening of a new 15-bed extension at Camilla took place when Kingdom Homes directors Colin and Margaret Smart unveiled their plans to completely revamp the original premises at the heart of the picturesque village, to modernize the building's facade, all public rooms, kitchens and bedrooms and to incorporate state of the art facilities including a high-tech Fighting Fire sprinkler system and other important safety factors.

"Today, a year on, we are proud and delighted that the new Camilla House can provide accommodation of the highest possible standard for a total of 40 residents," explained Kingdom Homes managing director Colin Smart, "becoming a major asset to Auchtertool and the surrounding area."

Camilla House became part of the Kingdom Homes group of prestigious properties in 2006, the one-time hotel having been converted into a nursing home in 1990.

Kingdom Homes Ltd also operate Edward House in Falkland, Barrogil House at Cluny, Craigie House in Crossgates, Fernlea House in Cardenden and Methven House in Kirkcaldy. The company also has the Kingdom Kiddies Nursery in Kirkcaldy and has recently completed Alexander House, a £2 million luxury Care Home in Crossgates.

"Kingdom Homes now employ nearly 350 people region-wide and while we really do feel that we are putting something back into the local economy, especially exciting for us, as the region’s longest-established care providers, is that the newly-completed Camilla House is something of which the company can be especially proud," added Margaret Smart.
